About us

The Bundesarbeitsgemeinschaft Schuldnerberatung e.V. (BAG-SB) is a nationwide association based in Berlin. The association was founded in 1986 and is registered in the public list of associations registered with the Bundestag (German parliament) as representing the interests of debtor and insolvency counselling practices.

The approximately 420 members of the association are equally divided between debt counsellors (individuals) and debt counselling centres. As the publisher of a specialist journal and organiser of numerous training courses and a major annual conference, the BAG-SB is also in regular contact with a further 600 counselling centres.

BAG-SB is recognised as a non-profit association by the Tax Office for Corporations I in Berlin. The BAG-SB is mainly financed by membership fees and income from the organisation's operations, as well as from government project funds and occasional donations.

Together with the consumer centres and the welfare associations (AWO, Caritas, Diakonie, Paritätischer, DRK), the BAG-SB forms the Association for Debt Counselling of the Associations (AGSBV). In addition, the BAG-SB is involved in various specialist committees and working groups in Germany and at European level in the European Consumer Debt Network (ECDN), an association of debt counsellors throughout Europe.

Further information can be found on the BAG-SB website.

For this website, we have worked with many actors, especially with the welfare associations and consumer centres, whose texts, videos, images and audio contributions we are allowed to link and embed. Many thanks for this!

We would also like to thank the Federal Ministries for the financial support for the design, creation and maintenance of the website.
